PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder head suitable for forming a water jacket which stores intake and exhaust ports therein by making them penetrate the jacket, and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The cylinder head includes: a lower deck 2 constituting a combustion chamber 5 at the cylinder head side, and including valve seats 13, 14 on which intake and exhaust valves are seated that are press-fitted in through-holes 11, 12, respectively, provided penetrating a wall face of the combustion chamber 5, and a peripheral wall 3 composed integrally or joined with an upper face side to constitute a lower portion of a water jacket space 6; hollow cylindrical intake and exhaust ports 21, 22 with one-side ends thereof joined at peripheral edges of the through-holes 11, 12, respectively, on the water jacket space 6 side of the lower deck 2, and other ends joined in a state of penetrating the peripheral wall 3; and an upper deck 4 joined at an end of the peripheral wall 3 away from the lower deck 2 and constituting an upper side of the water jacket space 6.
