The device has multiple guide vanes (1) arranged in an inflow zone for gases and pivotable around an axis that is parallel to a turbine/compressor axis. The guide vanes form a closed ring that encloses a turbine/compressor wheel in a minimum opened position. A recess (2) is formed between a head end (3) and a foot end (4) of the guide vanes. The guide vanes are divided into a head part (5) and a foot part (6) from the head end to the foot in a longitudinal direction via the recess.
