The engine has an injection device (20) arranged in a cylinder head (10) of an operating cylinder. An inlet channel is provided with an opened inlet valve (14) and arranged in the cylinder head. A combustion chamber wall (12) is formed by the cylinder head with respect to a flow direction (22) of combustion air. The wall projects upstream to an inlet (30) of the injection device toward a vector component of a jet vector. The vector is perpendicular to the wall with respect to the flow direction of combustion air, where the flow direction is downstream to the inlet.
