The device (10) has a workpiece magazine (12) providing a workpiece i.e. bar (1), in an orientation, where the workpiece is receptiable in the magazine. A workpiece conveyor (16) individually conveys the workpiece in another orientation for subsequent processing of the workpiece. An erecting device (14) individually and automatically erects the workpiece from the former orientation into a third orientation. The erecting device is pivotable around an axis of rotation. The workpiece is moved from the magazine to the erecting device by an input device i.e. pushing device (4). An independent claim is also included for a method for processing a workpiece.
