PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair comfortable to use that can resolve a discomfort feeling of a seater by relieving a rapid rotation of a backrest when the backrest is returned from a backward tilting position to a rising position and that can relieve the rapid rotation of the backrest when the backrest is turned from the rising position to the backward tilting position. SOLUTION: In a chair that rotatably supports a backrest 9 between a nearly perpendicular rising position and a backward tilting position against a support base 6 being the lower constituent body of the chair and that always biases the backrest 9 toward the rising position by a bias means, the support base 6 is provided with a resisting power grant means E that grants resisting power to the backrest 9 when the backrest 9 turns from the backward tilting position to the rising position.
