PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character recognition device, a character recognition method, and a program capable of improving identification of characters and a recognition process and efficiency of reuse of data afterwards by performing re-synthesis about an image including only information to be needed by a user, and an image which makes a front and a back pages of an original in one page from a plurality of images of the original read by a scanner etc. SOLUTION: A part of an area of the plurality of images is extracted, then a synthesized image which reconstructs a plurality of areas is produced, then a character within the produced synthesized image is recognized.
