PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector, capable of fully cooling an optical conversion element arranged in between an optical modulation device and a color-compositing optical element. SOLUTION: A translucent substrate 46 is arranged between a cross dichroic prism 45 and a projection lens 50. More specifically, the translucent substrate 46 is attached on a light flux emission side end face of the cross dichroic prism 45. By arranging the translucent substrate 46, the distance between the light flux incident side end face of the cross dichroic prism 45 and the light flux emission side end face of a liquid crystal panel 41 can be fully secured. Accordingly, an emission-side polarizing plate 44, arranged between the cross dichroic prism 45 and the liquid crystal panel 41, can be cooled fully. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
