PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve safety by preventing a lid from being opened carelessly even when the supply of power is interrupted. SOLUTION: A rice cooker in which a body 1 storing a pot 11 is covered with a lid 31, includes: a clamp 44 as a locking means for holding the lid 31 on the body 1; and a fixing mechanism 401 for disabling the clamp 44. A shape memory spring 403 is provided as a movable part of the fixing mechanism 401. The shape memory spring 403 whose shape is displaced on sensing the temperature in the pot 11 is used as the movable part of the fixing mechanism 401, whereby even if the power to the rice cooker is interrupted, when the temperature in the pot 11 is high, the clamp 44 is disabled from operating to prevent the lid 31 from being opened carelessly.
