Disclosed is an LED backlight unit which uses LEDs as a light source. The LED backlight unit comprises a transparent substrate. A transparent electrode layer made of carbon nanotube materials is formed on the transparent substrate such that the transparent electrode layer has a plurality of electrode patterns. A plurality of LEDs are connected to the electrode patterns of the transparent electrode layer. A reflection layer is arranged to reflect light emitted by the LEDs. Accordingly, the LED backlight unit of the present invention is thin, lightweight, and flexible, and therefore can be applied to a free curved shape.
