The tool (1) has an electrode (3) inserted into a recess of a workpiece and comprising two electrode segments (4, 5). One of the segments holds an undercut formed in the recess into a rear-gripping position. The electrode segments comprise tool-sided guiding sections that are guided into a guide sleeve (2) in such a manner that the electrode segment inserted into the recess is displaced to the rear gripping position through guiding of the other segment. The guide sleeve forms an electrolyte channel, and made from plastic, where the guide sleeve has a sealing element at a front side.
