<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct tandem electrophotographic image forming apparatus having an easy maintenance cleaning member, and to provide an image carrier unit included in the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A color laser printer 1 includes: four photoreceptor drums 17 corresponding to each color; a conveying belt 30 facing each of the photoreceptor drums 17 in a vertical direction; and a process frame 14 which holds each of the photoreceptor drums 17. In the color laser printer 1, a belt cleaner 16 for removing toner remaining on the conveying belt 30, and an upper guide 46 and a lower guide 47 disposed on the upper side of the belt cleaner 16 so as to overlap the belt cleaner 16 during projection in a vertical direction, are provided in the process frame 14.
