PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly determine the trouble of an instrument itself in a measuring instrument for a liquid concentration. SOLUTION: The microcomputer of an alcohol concentration sensor reads the measured value S(f1) corresponding to frequency f1 (S100) and further reads a measured value S(f2) corresponding to frequency f2 (S110), then calculates the difference ¾S(f1)-S(f2)¾ between two measured values (S120). When the difference ¾S(f1)-S(f2)¾ between two measured values is a predetermined value Th or below continues (S130:YES, S140:YES), the microcomputer of the alcohol concentration sensor determines stack abnormality to output a PWM signal of specific frequency different from that of normal time to an engine ECU 300 (S170).
