<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that eliminates deviation of a result of detection caused by variation or the like in arrangement accuracy of optical elements of a density sensor, and improves correction accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an intermediate transfer belt 23 to which a color-shift detecting pattern formed on a plurality of photoreceptor drums is transferred; and a density sensor 25 which detects detection timing of the color-shift detecting pattern transferred to the intermediate transfer belt 23 using regularly reflected light (P wave) and diffuse reflected light (S wave). The density sensor 25 sets a detected value of the regularly reflected light as P wave output, and a detected value of the diffuse reflected light as S wave output. A time difference between one of the P wave and the S wave, which is detected first, and the other is obtained by binarizing waveform of each of them. The P wave output and the S wave output are arithmetically calculated after adjusting a location of the density sensor 25 in a direction where the difference is decreased. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
