PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel which is improved in operability by suppressing power consumption in a low load condition when it is motor-driven, and applying proper load when it is manually operated. SOLUTION: The lens barrel includes: movable lens groups 14a and 14b; a fixed lens barrel 10 in which the movable lens groups 14a and 14b are disposed to freely move in an optical axis direction; an operation ring 17 which can move between a first position and a second position in the optical axis direction, and is rotated at the first and second positions, thereby moving the movable lens groups 14a and 14b; and a driving part 19 which drives and rotates the operation ring 17. The operation ring 17 has first and second resistance generation parts 35a and 35b where rotational resistance is generated when the operation ring 17 rotates. When the operation ring 17 is at the first position, the rotational resistance is generated by the first and second resistance generation parts, and when the operation ring 17 is at the second position, driving force from the driving part 19 is transmitted thereto, and generation of the rotational resistance from the second resistance generation part 35b is canceled.
