PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method and device for biding paper sheets, which enable binding of the paper sheets with a paper string, in the form of good appearance similar to that obtained by a wire for wire binding, and enable easy recycling of the paper sheets, and which are not only friendly to an end user and capable of reducing an environmental load, but also give stability free from adhesive separation, in particular, to the work of inserting the paper string through passing holes of the paper sheets in mechanical automated working. SOLUTION: The method includes: a perforating step of opening one or two or more pairs of through-holes 3 in the paper sheets 2; an insertion step in which both sides of the paper string 8 coated with a heat-sealing adhesive and formed by bending the paper string in the shape of a letter U are inserted into the through-holes 7; a bending step in which both ends of the paper string projected from the lower side of the paper sheets 2 are bent; and an adhering step in which an ultrasonic welding machine 16 is used for adhering the paper string 8, including the bent portions, to the paper sheets 2.
