PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quench a plurality of portions on the surface of a steel material with a laser beam so that all target portions to be quenched can have the same quenched quality, even when the plurality of these target portions to be quenched have different shapes, different heat conductive conditions and the like. SOLUTION: This laser quenching method includes: arranging laser heads 31a, 31b, 31c and 31d for emitting the laser beam, at respective positions corresponding to a plurality of rolling faces 11a<SB>1</SB>, 11a<SB>2</SB>, 11a<SB>3</SB>and 11a<SB>4</SB>of a rolling body, and irradiating the plurality of rolling faces of the rolling body simultaneously with the laser beam emitted from the plurality of the laser heads. The laser quenching method also includes setting the emission condition of the laser beam to be emitted from each of the plurality of laser heads 31a, 31b, 31c and 31d, independently for every laser head, and thereby all of the plurality of the rolling faces 11a<SB>1</SB>, 11a<SB>2</SB>, 11a<SB>3</SB>and 11a<SB>4</SB>of the rolling body can have approximately the same quality after having been quenched.
