PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the simple separation of a nanotube substance having a desired dielectric constant from a mixture of nanotube substances having a different dielectric constant is difficult. SOLUTION: In a method for separating the nanotube substance, a filter with pores having pore diameters between the maximum of the length in a long axis direction of the nanotube substance and the diameter of the nanotube substance is placed in a nanotube mixed solution containing at least a first nanotube substance having a first dielectric constant and a second nanotube substance having a second dielectric constant, electromagnetic action controlled in a standard direction roughly parallel with the surface of the filter is performed on the nanotube mixed solution, and the filter and the nanotube mixed solution are moved relatively by orientating either the first nanotube substance or the second nanotube substance in a direction roughly parallel with the standard direction.
