<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system adopting an intermittent operation mode, capable of improving the accuracy in estimation of remaining water quantity of an electrolyte membrane and suppressing rise of water pool by intermittent operation. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell system includes an estimation unit which estimates residual water distribution of reactive gas flows 25A and 25B within the cell plane of each unit cell 2 and water content distribution of an electrolyte membrane 23, considering water movement between an anode electrode 24A and a cathode electrode 24B through the electrolyte membrane 23. In a low load, the estimation unit estimates the residual water quantity after a predetermined time t<SB>1</SB>in a case in which the low load state is continued, and intermittent operation is performed at an intermittent frequency X capable of relatively suppressing increase in residual water quantity of the estimated residual quantities. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
