<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a substituted 1,4-quinone methide, which is suitable for large industrial application and therefore is economically advantageous, in which the apparatus for producing the same is protected. <P>SOLUTION: This substituted 1,4-quinone methide is produced by allowing 3,5-di-substituted 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, an orthoformic ester, and an alcohol and/or a thioalcohol to react with each other under the presence of a catalyst to produce a corresponding acetal, and subsequently eliminating an alcohol or thiol from the resultant corresponding acetal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
