PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetoimpedance (MI) sensor having a high sensitivity as a magnetic sensor and having a wide measurement range. SOLUTION: The magnetoimpedance sensor includes: a magnetoimpedance element that includes a magnetism-sensitive wire made of amorphous of a soft magnetic alloy that becomes a zero magneto-striction and a detection coil around the magnetism-sensitive wire via an insulator, and detects voltage generated by the detection coil according to an external magnetic field by applying a high-frequency current to the magnetism-sensitive wire; a current supply device for supplying a high-frequency current to the magnetoimpedance element; and a signal processing circuit for performing signal processing of output from the detection coil. In the magnetoimpedance sensor, the magnetism-sensitive wire includes surface layers subjected to spin alignment at least in a circumferential direction of the wire, and the high-frequency current has a frequency of not less than 0.3 and not more than 1.0 GHz.
