PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase torque capacity while maintaining the contact area of friction members while reducing the radial space of the friction members in a torque converter with a lock-up clutch. SOLUTION: The torque converter 10 with the lock-up clutch engages a lock-up piston 18 rotated integrally with a turbine runner 16, with a front cover 20 in a slip engaged manner through the friction members 22, 24, 26 of multi-plate structure by regulating the pressure difference between a lock-up engaged side oil chamber 12 and a lock-up released side oil chamber 14. The respective friction memberts 22, 24, 26 are arranged inclining with respect to a radial part 38 of the front cover 20, and the friction members 22, 24 excluding the innermost friction member 26 are equally divided in a circumferential direction.
