PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store data for focus detection at the time of imaging, together with a video file. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: an imaging device including imaging pixels each of which photoelectrically converts a subject image formed by an imaging lens to produce an image generation signal, and focus detecting pixels disposed discretely between a plurality of imaging pixels, for dividing a pupil area of the imaging lens and photoelectrically converting subject images from divided pupil areas to produce a phase difference detection signal; a generator for generating a video file from image data captured from the imaging device; and a storage for storing the focus detection data acquired from the focus detecting pixels together with the video file.
