PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that since, without lowering electric resistance of an absorption coil, the size of the absorption coil is increased in order to reduce the ampere-turn, the number of winding of the absorption coil is increased, and furthermore, the absorption coil is wound in the reverse direction in an electromagnetic switch for an auxiliary rotation type starter by a conventional technique, assembling properties and workability are insufficient due to an increase in the conductor volume and a reverse winding configuration, and the productivity is deteriorated. SOLUTION: In the electromagnetic switch for the auxiliary rotation type starter, a gap part is secured on a magnetic circuit in a section where a plunger 11 is moved by the magnetic attractive force caused by energization to the absorption coil 9 and a holding coil 10, and a core 26 for a magnetic bypass is arranged between the outer periphery of the plunger 11 and the inner diameter of a winding frame 14 so that one end abuts on the other end side of a case 21 and the other end faces the end part of the core 18 via the gap 23.
