<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system capable of gathering different types of data, gathering additional data, or responding to changing data requirements without replacing and extensive redesign. <P>SOLUTION: The reconfigurable monitoring arrangement 50 includes a housing 58 securable relative to a vehicle 12, a communication base 62 at least partially disposed within the housing 58, and a universal connector assembly 86 configured to selectively operatively connect the communication base 62 with a first module 74, a second module 78 and a third module 90.
