PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyvinyl acetal by which deacylation and acetalization are simultaneously performed in a short period of time in the presence or absence of a catalyst using a vinylester-based polymer and an aldehyde as raw materials to obtain the polyvinylacetal. SOLUTION: In the method for producing the polyvinylacetal, the polyvinylacetal is obtained by reacting a raw material mixture containing the vinylester-based polymer and the aldehyde under a high temperature and high pressure condition of 100 to 400°C and 0.5 to 100 MPa in a fluid other than the raw material.
