PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a start assist device that provides more appropriate start assist that matches the present situation. SOLUTION: The start assist device 1 urges own vehicle 10, stopped by an instruction to stop at an intersection, to start at a predetermined timing. An ECU 2 functions as a traveling direction anticipating means for anticipating the traveling direction of the vehicle 10 at an intersection, and a timing determining means for determining the timing to urge the vehicle 10 to start, according to the traveling direction anticipated by the traveling direction anticipating means. Since an informing unit 9 functions as an informing means for informing the driver of the vehicle 10, to urge start at the timing determined by the timing determining means, start assist for own vehicle can be provided with an appropriate timing.
