HUMAN ENDOKINE alpha AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new member of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family of cytokines, concretely an isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding an endokine α protein.

SOLUTION: There are provided a new member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family of cytokines, in particular, isolated nucleic acid molecules encoding the endokine α protein. There are also provided endokine α polypeptides, vectors, host cells and recombinant methods for producing these substances. Also provided are diagnostic and therapeutic methods concerning TNF family-related disorders. The method includes a step to administer an individual with a therapeutically effective amount of the endokine α polypeptide or a step to administer an individual with a therapeutically effective amount of an endokine α antagonist.
