SOLUTION: In a memory system 100 with an information processing apparatus 1 and a semiconductor memory device 2, the semiconductor memory device 2 is provided with an interface part 61 which transmits data read out from a memory core 7 to the information processing apparatus 1, in compliance with a plurality of communication protocols which have mutually different signal transmission and reception methods. A communication protocol selection part 69 inputs a selection signal for selecting a specific communication protocol from the plurality of communication protocols on the basis of a switch command input from the information processing apparatus 1, to the interface part 61.
