<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interactive television program guide system in which data that must become quickly available to a user is locally stored in a receiver, while data that is not needed so quickly but becomes available on demand is stored at a remote location, at a location with a large capacity storage. <P>SOLUTION: Data stored locally can contain information which is often requested and to which a user needs quick access. Supplemental information remotely stored can contain information which can tolerate slight delays, after the user makes a request for information of a specific item. A program guide can display the locally stored information successively, when the user is browsing the guide, or immediately after the user makes a request for the information. The program guide is allowed to make a request, immediately when the user makes a request for the remotely stored supplemental information, or when it is clear that the user desires to view it. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
