PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the smooth switching of right and left hands of a lever handle; and to make a structure simple and firm. SOLUTION: In this door handle device 1 which enables the switching of right and left hands of the lever handle 3 rotatably provided in a door washer 2, a rotary member 5 rotating together with a handle shaft 4 of the lever handle 3, and a return spring 6 wound around the handle shaft 4 so as to urge the lever handle 3 to a neutral position C are provided in the door washer 2; the rotary member 5 has an operating portion 7 which rotates one end 6a of the return spring 6 in the rotation of the lever handle 3; and a setting member 8, which is detachably provided in the door washer 2, has a spring stop 9 for locking the other end 6b of the return spring 6 in the rotation of the lever handle 3 in the cases of the right and left hands of the lever handle 3.
