PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing fluoromethyl hexafluoroisopropyl ether ((CF<SB>3</SB>)<SB>2</SB>CH-O-CH<SB>2</SB>F), without using hydrogen fluoride or a large amount of sulfuric acid, therefore, without accompanying the by-production of a large amount of acidic waste materials and also adoptable industrially. SOLUTION: The method for producing fluoromethyl hexafluoroisopropyl ether comprises reacting bisfluoromethyl ether with hexafluoroisopropyl alcohol in the presence of a catalytic amount of sulfuric acid or an acid having acidity higher than that of sulfuric acid in a solvent substantially immiscible with hydrogen fluoride.
