PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic mail server which is for adding to advertisement in a mail server at a transmitting side of electronic mail without giving disadvantage to existent convenience of electronic mail, and an electronic mail transmitting/receiving method employing the same. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an electronic mail server including a mail transfer agent (MTA) 16 for transmitting/receiving electronic mail by mutually transferring electronic mail data to each other with a mail user agent (MUA) 14 of a user terminal 10. The electronic mail server includes an attacher 50 for receiving electronic mail data sent from the MUA 14 to the MTA 16, adding additional data including at least image data to the electronic mail data and sending the electronic mail data to the MTA 16. Furthermore, an electronic mail transmitting/receiving method includes the steps of: receiving, in the attacher 50, the electronic mail data sent from the MUA 14 to the MTA 16; and adding the additional data including at least the image data to the electronic mail data and sending the electronic mail data to the MTA 16.
