A method, system and equipment for obtaining real time media playing information of a designated user. The method includes: receiving a request, which carries ID information of the designated user, for obtaining real time media playing information of the designated user sent by request equipment (S101); determining the target session ID of the designated user and playing equipment serving the target session of the designated user, according to the ID information of the designated user (S102); requesting the playing equipment for obtaining the real time media playing information in the target session (S103); returning the real time media playing information in the target session, which is returned by the playing equipment, to the request equipment (S104). The method, system and equipment enable an IPTV system to support other users to obtain real time media playing information of the designated user.
