The present invention discloses a paging method for local Internet Protocol (IP) access and related apparatus thereof. After receiving the downlink data notification from the local IP, the Mobility Management Entity only initiates the operation of paging a terminal to the Home Node B accessed by the local IP, and will not send paging messages to all the base stations in the tracking area of the terminal. Thus the paging mechanism is optimized efficiently, the waste of the paging message and air interface resources is avoided, and the processing efficiency of the mobile communication system is improved.
