<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary input device that gives clear operation feeling when the rotation angle of a rotary operating device reaches a switch angle, and electronic equipment including the rotary input device. <P>SOLUTION: A cellular phone 1 is provided. When the rotation angle of the rotary operating device 13 reaches the switch angle corresponding to display information displayed on a display part 33, a first tactile force is presented to an operator via the rotary operating device 13 by combining application of forward rotation force to the rotary operating device 13, application of reverse rotation force, and stop of application of the rotation force. When the rotation angle of the rotary operating device 13 is within a first range on the reverse direction side of the switch angle, forward rotation force is applied to the rotary operating device 13. When the rotation angle of the rotary operating device 13 is within a second range on the normal direction side of the switch angle, reverse rotation force is applied to the rotary operating device 13.
