PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power output device, capable of operating at the efficiency higher than before, and to provide an electric vehicle. SOLUTION: The electric vehicle includes one or more motors without permanent magnets which are sub motors and no permanent magnets are mounted on a rotor, a permanent magnet synchronous motor which is a main motor and whose maximum torque is lower than that of the sub motor, an output shaft which outputs power by rotational driving of the main motor and the sub motor, and a motor drive control unit which drives only the permanent magnet synchronous motor when a torque request not exceeding a maximum torque of the permanent magnet synchronous motor as a main motor is received, or drives both the permanent magnet mounted motor and a sub motor when a torque request exceeding the maximum torque of the permanent magnet synchronous motor is received, to compensate shortfall of the torque.
