PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video camera which suppresses a deterioration in image quality when reproducing a plurality of recorded field images in a period shorter than a recording period. SOLUTION: An image sensor 16 has an imaging surface for catching a field through a focus lens 14 and generates a field image. An I/F 38 records the field image generated by the image sensor 16 in a recording medium 40 in each designated period. A CPU 26 adjusts a distance from the focus lens 14 to the imaging surface under a continuous AF task each time motion occurs in the field. The CPU 26 also controls a response characteristic of a distance adjustment operation so as to be decreased more as the length of the designated period is increased under a setting control task. The deterioration in image quality when reproducing the plurality of recorded field images in the period shorter than the recording period, is suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
