PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand dryer which can hygienically be kept by improving water draining property, and the sound of which is small. SOLUTION: The hand dryer includes: a hand drying chamber which opens to the front surface of a box body, and in/from which hand can be put/taken out; a high-pressure air stream generating apparatus which jets a high-speed air stream to the hand which has been inserted in the hand drying chamber; a water receiving plate which receives water droplets of the hand having been blown away by the high-speed air stream, and is arranged on the bottom surface of the hand drying chamber by installing a gap for the introduction of water to the back surface plate which constitutes the back surface of the hand drying chamber; a water receiving tray which is arranged under the water receiving plate, and stores water droplets on the water receiving plate; and an extended section which extends from the back surface plate of the hand drying chamber to the front surface direction of the water receiving tray. In the hand dryer, the upper end on the back surface side of the extended section is arranged above the lower end on the back surface side of the water receiving plate. Also, the upper end on the front surface side of the extended section is diagonally arranged in such a manner that the upper end on the front surface side of the extended section may be located below the lower end on the back surface side of the water receiving plate.
