A locking mechanism for a golf bag cover is provided. The locking mechanism includes a plurality of straps and/or wire ropes to secure the golf bag cover to a golf bag, golf cart, or other object. A locking device is provided to interconnect and lock the golf bag cover to a golf bag/cart or other object. The locking mechanism for a golf bag cover deters theft and prevents damage to the golf clubs. The locking mechanism for a golf bag cover can be configured as a single-bag cover or a double-bag cover. Furthermore, the locking mechanism is compact and easy to use.
