Disclosed is a high-strength stainless steel pipe with excellent strength and corrosion resistance, which can be inexpensively manufactured. The stainless steel base material has a chemical composition comprising, in mass%, C: 0.04 to 0.12%, Ni: 0 (none added) to 5.0%, Cr: 12.0 to 17.0%, N: 0 (none added) to 0.10%, Si: 0.2 to 2.0%, Mn: 2.0% or less, Cu: 0 (none added) to 2.0%, P: 0.06% or less, and S: 0.006% or less, with the remainder comprising Fe and unavoidable impurities. In addition, the base phase is composed of either a single-phase structure of a ferrite phase or a martensite phase, or a dual-phase structure of a ferrite phase and a martensite phase. Pipe is fabricated by fusion-welding the edges of the base material as the joint. In the base phase, carbides are uniformly precipitated into the crystal grain boundaries and into the crystal grains, with a solute C content of 0.03 mass% or less. |
