INCREASED CAPACITY HETEROGENEOUS STORAGE ELEMENTS

PURPOSE: A heterogeneous storage element having increased capacity is provided to store data including writing and reading processes. CONSTITUTION: A memory(302) comprises a block of memory cells. The physical properties of the memory cells support different data levels. A tester(304) decides the physical properties of the memory cells. An encoder(306) is connected to the memory and the tester. The encoder adopts one or more codebooks.
