PURPOSE: A method for controlling cell differentiation using insulin-like growth factor(IGF II) is provided to treat or prevent cell differentiation-associated diseases. CONSTITUTION: A method for diagnosing or predicting cardiovascular diseases such as metabolic diseases and arteriosclerosis comprises: a step of isolating insulin-like growth factor(IGF II) receptor or CIM6P/IGF2(cation-independent mannose-6 phosphate receptor) from a sample; a step of confirming amino acid sequence of nucleotide encoding the same of IGF II or CIM6P/IGF receptor; and a step of comparing the amino acid sequence and nucleotide from the sample with those from control group to determine malfunction of the sample.
