A binder for the preparation of a secondary battery, a slurry for an electrode containing the binder, an electrode using the slurry, and a secondary battery containing the electrode are provided to improve thermal stability, charge/discharge capacity and cycle characteristics. A binder for the preparation of a secondary battery comprises 100 parts by weight of a binder polymer; and 0.1-30 parts by weight of an antioxidizing agent. Preferably the antioxidizing agent is a phenol-based antioxidizing agent and/or a phosphite-based antioxidizing agent; and the binder polymer is a copolymer of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of a (meth)acrylate monomer, a conjugated diene-based monomer and a nitrile group-containing compound, and a heat resistant vinyl monomer containing an aromatic group. |
