PURPOSE: A sheet conveying apparatus, an image forming apparatus and a control method of a sheet conveying apparatus are provided to correct the meandering of a sheet since the leading end of a sheet to be conveyed by a pair of conveying rollers collides with a pair of registration rollers in an idle state. CONSTITUTION: A sheet conveying apparatus comprises a conveying unit, a meandering correcting member, a receiving unit and a controller(200). The conveying unit conveys the sheet along a conveying path. The meandering correcting member is located on the conveying path so that the leading end of the sheet conveyed by the conveying unit collides to correct the meandering of the sheet. The receiving part receives the information, which indicates the width of the conveyed sheet. The receiving part is formed in a direction the width is orthogonal to the sheet conveying direction. The controller controls the meandering correction conveying amount of the conveying unit, which is applied to correct the meandering of the sheet by the meandering correcting member.
