PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for extracting nucleic acid are provided to move a sample and reactant and to minimize contamination. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for extracting nucleic acid comprises: a pressurizing member for supplying pressed gas; a sample chamber in which a subject material is stored; a transfer chamber which is connected with the sample chamber; a pressure switch which is connected to the sample chamber and controls tank connection with the pressurizing member; and an atmosphere switch which is connected with the transfer chamber.
