PURPOSE: An apparatus, a mobile communication terminal, and a method for providing a message service are provided to transmit a receiving check message corresponding to a reply number set in an originating message to an originating terminal, thereby checking the receiving check message is for a basic telephone number or an additional telephone number. CONSTITUTION: A message center(207) receives an originating message of an originating terminal. When a reply number set in the originating message is an additional telephone number, a message control unit(201) generates a receiving check message corresponding to the additional telephone number. When the reply number is a basic telephone number, the message control unit generates a receiving check message corresponding to the existing telephone number.
