PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing location information is provided to grasp the current location of the terminal by photographed image data conveniently, thereby providing the map data about the grasped location to the terminal. CONSTITUTION: A data receiving unit(210) receives photographed image data from a terminal. A data searching unit(220) searches map data related to received image data. A data transmitting unit(230) transmits the searched map data to the terminal. An information identifying unit(240) identifies the landmark which is capable of location position tracking from the received image data. By considering the display implementation environment of a terminal, a data processing unit(260) processes the searched map data.
