<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display and an image display method for improving the display resolution, while preventing cost increase and image quality degradation. <P>SOLUTION: A projector 1 includes a light source section 2, capable of emitting a first color light and a second color light in time sequence; liquid crystal light bulbs 5R, 5G, 5B (light modulation elements), capable of modulating the first color light and second color light from the light source section 2 in time sequence; a projection lens 7; a pixel-image adjusting element 8 forming a pixel image formed when the light source section 2 emits the first color light, and a pixel image formed, when the light source section 2 emits the second color light, at different positions on a screen 17; and a control section 11.
