PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscope for adding luminance data detected by a multi-channel optical detector and displaying the addition result, the microscope which is configured such that the fluorescence emitted from a specimen can be observed with accurate intensity. SOLUTION: The microscope 1 includes an objective lens 114 for condensing fluorescence generated in a specimen A; a spectrum element 118 for splitting condensed fluorescence into spectrum components; the multi-channel optical detector 119 having a plurality of channels l for detecting the spectrum components into which the fluorescence is split; a CPU 122 for calculating the fluorescence intensity, by totaling the spectrum components detected by the plurality of channels and also determining whether the luminance value of the spectrum component detected by the corresponding channels exceeds a predetermined threshold; and a display 302 for displaying a determination result if the luminance value of at least one channel is determined as exceeding the predetermined value.
