PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming device which reduces the amount of toner patterns recovered in a cleaning device part in a sequence which forms toner patches on a belt to determine whether a cartridge is mounted, and to provide a determination means thereof. SOLUTION: In the image-forming device, a control means applies a potential difference for transferring to an image-forming unit located on the upstream side in the direction, in which an intermediate transfer body is rotated and conveyed, to form, on the intermediate transfer body, a plurality of toner images for determining an image-forming unit mounting state, and applies a potential difference for recovering to an image-forming unit located on the downstream side in the direction in which the intermediate transfer body is rotated and conveyed. By this, the control means recovers at least one of the toner images for determining the mounting state and determines an image-forming unit mounting state, on the basis of detection signals from an image-detecting means.
